Congress MP Shashi Tharoor exposed Pakistan in front of Colombia on Friday. After which Colombia has officially withdrawn its statement in which it had expressed condolences on the deaths in Pakistan after the Indian attacks. Earlier, Colombia had expressed disappointment on the loss suffered by Pakistan in the military action of India. On this, Shashi Tharoor expressed concern and said that we (India) are a little disappointed with the reaction of the Colombian government.
Meeting with the all-party delegation of India
After meeting the all-party delegation of India, Colombia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Rosa Yolanda Villavicencio said, we are confident that on the basis of the clarification we have received today and the information we have now about the real situation, the conflict and what happened in Kashmir, we can continue the conversation.
On the withdrawal of the statement by Colombia, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor said that the Deputy Minister very politely mentioned that they have withdrawn the statement on which we had expressed concern and they fully understand our position on this matter, which is very valuable for us.
Fight against terrorism
In fact, an all-party delegation of Indian MPs is visiting various countries to convey India’s stand on the fight against terrorism after the Pahalgam attack on April 22. Tharoor is leading the delegation to Colombia to convey Pakistan’s support for cross-border terrorist activities and India’s commitment to zero tolerance towards terrorism.

In a press conference in the Colombian capital on Thursday, Tharoor spoke in detail about India’s stand on terrorism. In this, he talked about Operation Sindoor and expressed disappointment over Colombia’s response to the Pahalgam terrorist attack. BJP MP Tejasvi Surya, who was part of the delegation, said, Tharoor reiterated India’s stand on terrorism and expressed disappointment over Colombia’s response, which expressed condolences on the loss of life and property in Pakistan instead of expressing sympathy for the victims of terrorism in India.
India will continue to give a strong response to terrorism
He said in a post on social media that there can be no equality between those who attack and those who defend. Surya said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India will continue to give a strong response to terrorism. This delegation has visited Guyana and Panama before reaching Colombia on Thursday.
Meeting with former President Cesar Gaviria
The delegation includes Bhubaneshwar Kalita (BJP), Milind Deora (Shiv Sena), Shambhavi (LJP), GM Harish Balayogi (TDP) and former Indian Ambassador to the US Taranjit Singh Sandhu. The delegation met former President Cesar Gaviria at his residence in Bogota. Gaviria is the head of the Liberal Party, the largest party in the Colombian Assembly.
The delegation will go to Brazil from Colombia
Tharoor said in a post on X, he (Gaviria) strongly supported India’s fight against terrorism and had also said this publicly. During its stay in Bogota, the delegation will interact with members of the Colombian Congress, ministers and other key interlocutors in think tanks and the media. From Colombia, the delegation will travel to Brazil. It will travel to the US in the final leg of its five-nation visit.
