Prime Minister Narendra Modi participated in the Constitution Day celebrations at the Supreme Court. While addressing the program, PM Modi said that our Constitution is the guide of our present and future. Our Constitution has shown the right path to solve every challenge. During this period, there was also a time of emergency, but the Constitution found a solution to that as well. Because of the Constitution, Baba Saheb’s Constitution has been fully implemented in Jammu and Kashmir today. Today, Constitution Day has been celebrated there for the first time.
Today India is going through such a big phase of change, at such a time our Constitution is showing us the way. The path of India’s future is now the achievement of dreams and resolutions. Today the goal of every citizen of the country is to make India developed. In the past years, many steps have been taken to bring economic and social equality among the people in the country. Today India is the country that provides free treatment up to Rs 5 lakh to every poor family. It is available at 80 percent discount at thousands of Jan Aushadhi centers in the country.
PM said- Our constitution makers knew that the needs of the citizens will change
The PM further said that our constitution makers knew that the aspirations of India, the dreams of India will reach new heights with time. They knew that the needs of independent India and the citizens of India will change, the challenges will change. That is why they did not leave our constitution as just a book of law but made it a living, continuously flowing stream.
‘Every terrorist organization will be given a befitting reply’
The Prime Minister said that when we are remembering this important festival of democracy, then we cannot forget that today is also the anniversary of the terrorist attack in Mumbai. I pay tribute to the people who died in this attack. I also reiterate the resolution of the country that every terrorist organization challenging the security of India will be given a befitting reply. PM Modi said that I have tried to stay within the limits of the work given to me by the Constitution.
CJI said- Viewpoint and criticism matter
Addressing the first program before the PM’s address, CJI Sanjeev Khanna said that the Constitution empowers the courts for judicial review. We consider PILs and appoint amicus to help decide cases. As a judge, viewpoint and criticism matter. Being open and transparent is the biggest strength of the judiciary, being responsive to being constructive makes us more accountable.
