Crime: Secunderabad GRP police has arrested a serial killer from Haryana who used to target women traveling in trains. While solving a murder case with the help of train tickets and mobile phones, the GRP police reached the neck of this serial killer.
Actually, Secunderabad Railway Police (GRP) was investigating the murder of a female passenger in the Belgaum-Manuguru Express train on 23 November 2024 and now it has arrested the accused. The 29-year-old accused Rahul alias Bholu is a driver by profession and hails from Rohtak, Haryana.
The accused killed a woman
According to the police, on the evening of 23 November 2024, Ramanamma (46 years), a resident of Torangal police station area of Ballari district of Karnataka, boarded train number 07335 Belgaum-Manuguru Special Express to go to her daughter’s house in Hyderabad. By mistake, she entered the Divyang coach instead of the women’s coach. At around 8:00 pm, the accused Rahul boarded the same coach from Bellary station. Ramanamma, sitting on the lower berth, asked the accused why he boarded the ladies coach. The accused replied that he would get off at the next station.
When the accused was smoking a bidi near the coach door, Ramanamma warned him not to smoke, else she would call the police. The accused got angry at this and snatched Ramanamma’s mobile phone. Later, he strangled Ramanamma with a red towel and killed her.
After this, the accused closed the coach doors, stole Rs 25,000 cash and a keypad mobile phone from Ramanamma’s bag. He removed the SIM card from the mobile and threw it out of the moving train and deboarded the train at Yadgir railway station. The next day, he reached Vapi railway station, where the Pardi police arrested him.
Confessed crime during interrogation
During interrogation, the accused admitted his involvement in four more murder and rape cases apart from this crime, including the strangulation of a Muslim woman passenger in the Pune-Kanyakumari train in October 2024, the strangulation of an elderly passenger in the Husnur-Mangalore train a week later, the murder and rape of a girl in Udvada police station area of Gujarat, and the strangulation of an elderly passenger in the Katihar-Howrah train in November 2024.
