Dana Cyclone: Cyclone Dana may hit the coast of Odisha on Thursday night or early Friday. After this, it is expected to reach West Bengal. The government and the local district administration are ready to deal with it in view of its danger. Vigilance has been increased in the coastal areas of both the states. All preparations have been completed to prevent the storm. 288 teams of NDRF have been deployed in Odisha. Apart from this, 10 lakh people from 14 districts of the state have been taken to safe camps.
According to the Meteorological Department, the effect of this cyclone will be seen in West Bengal, Odisha, Bihar and Jharkhand. Meteorologists believe that this storm can hit the surface between the National Park and Dhamra Port. It is coming towards Odisha at a speed of 15 kilometers per hour.
Indian Coast Guard on ‘high alert’
In view of the forecast of cyclone Dana hitting the coasts of West Bengal and Odisha on October 24-25, the Indian Coast Guard is on high alert and has deployed its ships and aircraft to deal with any emergency situation at sea. The Defense Ministry said in a statement that the Coast Guard is closely monitoring the situation and proactive steps have been taken to ensure preparedness to deal with any emergency arising from the impact of the cyclone.
Kolkata airport will remain closed till 9 am
Kolkata airport will remain closed till 9 am. 281 domestic flights have been canceled from here. Apart from this, 29 international flights have been canceled.
Heavy damage due to Dana
Due to Dana storm, heavy damage is expected in Odisha, West Bengal and Andhra Pradesh. 10 lakh people in Odisha and more than 3.5 lakh people in West Bengal have been shifted to relief camps.

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi is monitoring the situation after the landfall of Dana cyclone at Rajiv Bhavan in Bhubaneswar.
Red alert for rain in 7 districts of Odisha
According to IMD, the effect of the cyclone will continue till Friday afternoon, during which the wind speed is expected to be 100-110 km/h. The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for heavy to very heavy rain in seven districts. Heavy rain has been predicted in Mayurbhanj, Cuttack, Jajpur, Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara and Jagatsinghpur districts.

The storm may weaken by this afternoon
Cyclone Dana has moved towards north-northwest at a speed of 10 km per hour and will be centered today i.e. on October 25 at around 5.30 pm, about 20 km north-northwest of Dhamra in North Coastal Odisha and 40 km northwest of Hablikati Nature Camp (Bhitarkanika). According to the IMD, the process of landfall is going on and this process will continue for the next 1-2 hours. The cyclonic storm is likely to gradually weaken by this afternoon.
