A case of alleged ragging and sexual harassment of a student studying in class VIII in a reputed boarding school in Dehradun by senior students has come to light. Police said here that the parents of the victim student have taken him with them to their home in Assam and lodged an FIR of this incident there.
Assam Police sent this FIR to Dehradun Police for action, after which the incident came to light. The FIR states that the student’s parents told the school management about the incident but when no action was taken in the matter, they took their child home with them.
Case registered against accused students
Dalanwala police station of Dehradun has registered a case against the accused students and started investigation. Senior Superintendent of Police Ajay Singh said that a case has been registered in the case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and investigation is going on.
School management did not take action
It is alleged that the student of class VIII left the school due to ragging. Also, despite the complaint, the school management is accused of not taking any action against the accused senior students, after which the victim’s family took the student with them and registered a case in Assam.
A team has been formed and investigation of the case has started
After this, Assam Police has registered a case under the sections of assault and POCSO and transferred the case to Dehradun. Senior Superintendent of Police Dehradun Ajay Singh said that a team has been formed under the direction of CO Dalanwala and investigation of the case has been started.
