Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said on Tuesday that in the past year, more than five lakh applications have been received for various services under the Uttarakhand Uniform Civil Code, but not a single complaint of privacy violation has been reported. This demonstrates that the Uttarakhand Uniform Civil Code has been 100% successful in upholding its commitment to protecting citizens’ private information. Moreover, the entire online application process is faceless, eliminating any risk of identity disclosure.

Privacy Violation Concerns Dispelled After UCC Implementation

He said that almost all applications under the Uttarakhand Uniform Civil Code are being processed through the UCC portal. Applicants can apply for any service from the comfort of their homes, eliminating the need to visit any government office or meet with any official. The portal also incorporates robust security measures to protect and maintain the confidentiality of citizens’ private information. Once an online application is approved by the competent authority, even the concerned officer cannot access the applicant’s private information.

Only the applicant has access to the private information submitted with the application, which can be viewed through a necessary verification process. This is why not a single complaint of privacy violation has been received in the past year. People are now using the UCC provisions for marriage registration, divorce, will registration, live-in relationship registration, and even for terminating live-in relationships. Furthermore, the average processing time of five days for obtaining certificates is saving people valuable time.

UCC Implementation Provides Answers to All

Some people initially tried to create a negative atmosphere regarding the Uniform Civil Code. The implementation of the UCC over the past year has provided an answer to all such critics. The Uniform Civil Code has been 100% successful in protecting citizens’ privacy. The ease with which this process is being implemented throughout the state is itself an example of good governance.
