Giving information about this, the police said that the priest of the temple was burnt in this accident. Police said that the priest who lost his life in the incident has been identified as 65-year-old Pandit Banwari Lal Sharma. It told that Pandit Banwari Lal Sharma was trapped inside the temple when the fire broke out and later died.

Fire is suspected to be caused by heater

Police said that on Saturday, information was received at Prem Nagar police station about a fire in Surya Mandir in Rohini. It told that after getting information about the incident, the police team reached the spot along with the fire department. Police said that the fire brigade controlled the fire in some time, but Sharma was found unconscious inside. It told that Sharma was immediately taken to Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital in an unconscious state, where doctors declared him dead. According to the police, in the initial investigation, the fire is suspected to be caused by the heater running inside the room.

‘No evidence of outsider involvement’

The officials have recorded the statements of four witnesses in the case, including two members of Sharma’s family, a neighbour and the person who reported the fire. According to reports, none of them raised any doubts about the incident. Police said the exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained and police as well as forensic teams are investigating the spot. A senior officer said, ‘We are investigating all possible aspects, but no evidence of any outside involvement has been found so far.’ Police said a detailed investigation is underway in the case.
