Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party’s Chief Whip in the Assembly, Dilip Pandey hinted that this time he might not get the party ticket from Timarpur Assembly seat?

New Delhi: Senior Aam Aadmi Party leader and party’s Chief Whip in Delhi Assembly Dilip Pandey on Friday hinted at something big. Dilip Pandey said in a post on X that he may not get a ticket from Timarpur seat in the assembly elections to be held in Delhi in the next few months. He said that now the time has come for him to do something else. Let us tell you that elections are to be held in Delhi in February 2025 for the 70-member Delhi Assembly.

Goel had retired

Timarpur MLA Dilip Pandey said in a post on ‘X’ that no matter who contests from this assembly seat, only Arvind Kejriwal will become the Chief Minister of Delhi and people will ensure this. It is worth noting that recently AAP MLA from Shahdara and Speaker of Delhi Assembly Ram Niwas Goyal had written a letter to CM Kejriwal citing his increasing age and said that he would retire from electoral politics.

‘It’s time to do something else’

Pandey said in a post on ‘X’, ‘After discharging the responsibility of first building the organization and then contesting elections in politics, now it is time to do something else while staying in the Aam Aadmi Party. Whoever contests the election in Timarpur assembly, Arvind Kejriwal will become the Chief Minister of Delhi, and all of us Delhiites will together ensure this.’ Pandey, a former software engineer living in Singapore, returned to India to join the anti-corruption movement and later became one of the prominent leaders of AAP after Arvind Kejriwal formed the party.

Lost in Lok Sabha elections

Pandey, who hails from the Purvanchal region of Uttar Pradesh, also contested the Lok Sabha elections from the North-East Delhi seat on the party ticket in 2019, but he lost to BJP’s Manoj Tiwari. Pandey said that his only satisfaction from being in politics is that the AAP government has made the life of a large number of common people and poor people easier and has cleared the way for better life prospects for many children.
