The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led Delhi government will present its first budget in the Assembly today (Tuesday). In this, provision of funds will be made to implement election promises like cleaning of Yamuna river, infrastructure development and strengthening of basic amenities.
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Monday organized a ‘Kheer’ ceremony as a symbol of the ‘sweetness’ of ‘developed Delhi’ before the start of the budget session. Government sources said that the 2025-26 budget to be presented in the Assembly may cross the figure of Rs 80,000 crore.
First budget of BJP government in Delhi
Actually, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta will present the first budget of the BJP government in Delhi after 27 years on Tuesday i.e. today. She holds the charge of the Finance Ministry. Participating in the ‘Kheer’ ceremony organized in the Assembly premises, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that for the first time in the history of Delhi Assembly, such a ceremony was organized before the presentation of the budget.
BJP will present budget after 27 years
He said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP is presenting the budget of Delhi after 27 years. Just as Lord Rama returned to Ayodhya after 14 years of exile, we have returned after 27 years. On this occasion, we offered kheer to Lord Ram, which symbolizes the sweetness of Delhi’s development.
Will work together with the central government
He also said that all sections of the society have been invited to take the prasad. The CM said that the previous government created bitterness by promoting confrontation between the Center and the Delhi government. This budget under the double-engine government will pave the way for a new chapter of development in Delhi. We will work together with the central government to remove every pain and problem of Delhi. He said that under the leadership of PM Modi, Delhi will taste the sweet taste of development.
Criticism of Rekha Gupta government
At the same time, opposition leader and former Chief Minister Atishi criticized the Rekha Gupta government for not presenting the economic survey a day before the budget was presented. Taking a dig at the Kheer Ceremony organised by the BJP at the start of the Budget session, he said, Delhi’s budget cannot be prepared by making Kheer but on the basis of economic data.
