Delhi Crime: The Special Staff Team of Outer North District of Delhi has achieved a major success in the campaign against liquor smuggling. On the basis of intelligence, the police team caught a Tata pickup tempo full of illegal liquor being taken for sale in Haryana. In this action, 6200 quarters of illegal country liquor have been seized and an accused has also been arrested.
Operation and Team
On 24 March 2025, the Head Constable of Special Staff received a secret information that an interstate liquor smuggler was bringing a large consignment of illegal liquor. After this, a dedicated team was formed under the leadership of Inspector Anand Kumar Jha, Special Staff Incharge. The team included Assistant Sub Inspector Azhar Anwar Zaidi, Head Constable Sanjay, Sandeep, Abhishek, Ajay and Constable Ravi Kant. This operation was conducted under the supervision of ACP Operations and leadership of Outer North District DCP.
6200 quarters of illegal desi liquor recovered
The police team, based on the information received from the intelligence system activated by them, tracked a Tata pickup tempo coming from Sonipat district of Haryana. This tempo was seen coming in the Bawana police station area on the road from Nangal Thakran to Bawana, which was immediately stopped and searched without wasting any time.
During the search, 124 cartons i.e. a total of 6200 quarters of illegal desi liquor were recovered from the tempo (registration number DL-1-LAL-3516), which was being taken for sale in Haryana. During the seizure, the person driving the tempo, Keshav alias Atul, was detained and questioned and then arrested. The police team, along with seizing the Tata pickup tempo and liquor, registered a case against the accused under sections 33, 38 and 58 of the Delhi Excise Act at Bawana police station and started investigating the matter.
