Delhi Crime News: Abdul Gaffar, the absconding accused in a sensational gangrape case in Burari area of Delhi in the year 2021, has finally come under the clutches of law. This notorious criminal, who fooled the Delhi Police for more than three years, was finally caught where he considered himself safe, in the premises of Tis Hazari Court.
Brutality of 2021, arrest of 2025
It is about October 2021. The news of gang rape of a woman shook the capital. A case was registered, three accused were caught. But the fourth accused Abdul Gaffar absconded and disappeared as if the earth had swallowed him. Gaffar was declared a Proclaimed Offender by the court in 2022. But Gaffar was not only hiding, he roamed the streets of Delhi, was active in his old business (water tanker supply), and recently absconded after shooting a young man.
The police team hatched a clever plan
The Burari police station team comprising lady sub-inspector Rashi and head constable Anil were continuously following Gaffar for the past one year. They kept an eye on his every contact, from mobile surveillance to pressure through relatives, they tried every trick. Finally, they got an intelligence that Abdul Gaffar might come to surrender in the court. The police team laid a trap in Tis Hazari court. As soon as Gaffar entered the court premises, the team caught him without giving him any chance.
The whole truth was revealed during interrogation
During interrogation after his arrest, Gaffar admitted that he was addicted to alcohol and often became violent when drunk. He was drunk even on the night of the gang rape. Since then, he was continuously absconding and kept trying to change cities to save himself.
