Delhi Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa made serious allegations against the AAP-ruled Municipal Corporation (MCD) and said that this is a deliberate conspiracy to increase pollution.

Manjinder Singh Sirsa: Amid the improvement in air quality in Delhi, the controversy over the incidents of burning garbage heaps has increased. Delhi Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa has made serious allegations against the AAP-ruled Municipal Corporation (MCD) and said that this is a deliberate conspiracy to increase pollution.

“Pollution is being deliberately increased in Delhi”

Minister Sirsa said, “Delhi’s Air Quality Index (AQI) had improved for the last few days, but now garbage heaps are being set on fire at many places. I am constantly getting information about such incidents.” Sharing the video of last night’s incident, he said that this negligence will not be tolerated under the AAP-controlled MCD.

“This is a conspiracy, action should be taken against the mayor”

The Environment Minister said that the BJP government in Delhi is constantly working to reduce pollution. But now an attempt is being made to spoil the air of Delhi by deliberately setting fire. He called it a “well-planned move of the AAP government” of the MCD and said that immediate action should be taken on this anti-people behavior. Sirsa demanded that a case be registered against the MCD mayor and responsible officials. He said that those who play with public health and the environment will not be spared.

Pollution crisis in Delhi

Delhi faces a serious pollution crisis every winter. AQI reaches dangerous levels due to stubble burning, garbage dumps and smoke from vehicles. However, AQI had seen improvement in recent weeks. The government has taken several steps like smog towers, electric buses and strictness on construction. But now the incidents of burning garbage have again created a danger of increasing pollution.

There have been allegations and counter-allegations between AAP and BJP regarding pollution earlier also. Last year also, BJP had accused the former AAP government of failing to control pollution. But now after this latest statement of Minister Sirsa, politics has again heated up on this issue.
