Two suspected Islamic State terrorists arrested
In another news, the Special Cell of Delhi Police, Jharkhand Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) and Ranchi Police have arrested two suspected Islamic State terrorists in a joint operation. The prime accused, Ashar Danish, a resident of Bokaro, was arrested from Ranchi on Wednesday, an official said. He was wanted in a case registered by the Delhi Police’s Special Cell related to an Islamic State-linked module. According to the police, another suspect, Aftab, was arrested from Delhi during a coordinated operation carried out by all the teams simultaneously.
A source associated with the operation said at least eight people have been detained from different states and the joint team is investigating their role. “Initial investigation suggests that both were in touch with other members of the Islamic State-inspired network and were involved in activities to further the terror outfit’s agenda in India,” the source said. Danish was on the radar of security agencies for several months.
