Delhi Politics: Former minister Satyendra Jain accused of taking a bribe of Rs 7 crore in the matter of installing CCTV cameras, Virendra Sachdeva said that now with the registration of FIR in the case, it is expected that more scams related to the installation of CCTV will be exposed.

Virendra Sachdeva On Satyendra Kumar Jain: Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva has said in an important statement that in the ongoing CCTV installation case against former minister Satyendra Jain, the ACB had completed the investigation of the Rs 7 crore bribe case from BEL in 2023. However, due to the cover-up by the Kejriwal government, the FIR was not being registered. Now with the registration of the FIR, it is expected that more scams related to the installation of CCTV will be exposed.

In this statement, Sachdeva said that this matter is just the beginning. He said that in 2017-18, the Kejriwal government had given a contract to install CCTV in Delhi to a private company BEL, whose total value is said to be Rs 571 crore. Due to the delay in this contract, a fine of Rs 16 crore was also imposed on the company, which was waived by former minister Satyendra Jain in a few days by taking Rs 7 crore.

This matter had already been exposed by many departmental sources. Manoj Tiwari, the then president of Delhi BJP, had also lodged a complaint in this matter. Many people believe that irregularities and bribery scams are common in such contracts, which were being suppressed.

Questions have been raised on the work being done by the government in the matter of installing CCTV cameras. Many times it has also come to light that the equipment and means of surveillance installed for security also get caught in corruption cases. The purpose of CCTV cameras installed in public places is to increase security, but if there are irregularities in its contracts, then the trust of the general public is lost.

Sachdeva has said that now when there is a possibility of FIR being registered, it will not only bring out the evidence of this bribery case, but in future more such cases will also be investigated at a fast pace. He said, “We hope that more scams of installing CCTV will now be exposed.”

This statement has become a topic of much discussion among the public. Security related issues have always been a matter of concern in Delhi. To root out corruption, an active role and transparency of investigative agencies is necessary. Such cases not only tarnish the reputation of the government but also weaken the trust of the general public. The people of Delhi demand that transparency should be brought in all contracts and strict action should be taken against those responsible, so that such scams can be avoided in future.
