Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Monday launched a scathing attack on Congress MP Rahul Gandhi and called him a “serial liar”. Fadnavis also completely rejected the allegations of “vote theft” levelled against the BJP.
Accused the opposition of spreading lies
Speaking to reporters in Mumbai, Devendra Fadnavis said that these “lies” spread by opposition leaders are just to console themselves. “I have said earlier also that Rahul Gandhi is a ‘serial liar’. He is continuously spreading lies. I feel sad that some leaders of Maharashtra have also suddenly started thinking that Rahul Gandhi is speaking the truth,” he said.
“Lies have no basis”
On Rahul Gandhi’s allegation that the BJP “stole” votes, the Chief Minister said that lies have no basis. He said, “A fortress built on lies collapses. Until they understand that to win people’s votes, one has to go among the people and win their trust, such lies are enough for them to console themselves.”
Maharashtra has a ‘thief minister’: Harshvardhan Sapkal
Maharashtra Pradesh Congress president Harshvardhan Sapkal hit back at Devendra Fadnavis after the chief minister’s remarks. In Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Sapkal said Fadnavis keeps looking at Rahul Gandhi day and night, just like the Mughals always looked at brave Maratha generals Dhanaji and Santaji. He said, “The real liars are in Delhi, while Maharashtra has a ‘thief minister’.”
