Delhi Congress On Budget 2025: After the presentation of the budget by the double engine Rekha government of BJP in Delhi, on one hand the Aam Aadmi Party and on the other hand the Congress Party have adopted an aggressive stance. Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee President Devendra Yadav has accused the Rekha Gupta government of not being serious about the water crisis.
Devendra Yadav said on Wednesday that no concrete steps were taken for additional water supply to Delhi in the recent budget. He said that Delhi needs 740 million gallons per day (MGD) of additional water, but neither the target of 2021 was discussed in the budget nor any assurance was given. Devendra Yadav termed it as the failure of the government.
It is difficult for Purvanchalis to celebrate Chhath festival
Devendra Yadav also raised questions about Yamuna River Front and cleanliness. Referring to the statement of Minister Ashish Sood, he said that the condition of Yamuna is such that it has become difficult for Purvanchalis to celebrate Chhath festival, yet the government has not made any plan. Yadav said sarcastically that like AAP, BJP also claims to be a well-wisher of Purvanchalis, but in reality both the parties have failed. He asked what happened to the Rs 2000 crore demanded from the Centre for cleaning Yamuna, why was this not discussed before the budget?
Demand for issuing a white paper from the government
The Congress leader also cornered BJP on the Centre’s Namami Gange project. Yadav said that BJP is maintaining silence on this, while the public wants answers. He demanded that the government issue a white paper to clarify the status of the funds received in the name of cleaning Yamuna. Yadav alleged that both BJP and Kejriwal government are not serious about cleaning Yamuna, due to which the people of Delhi are suffering. Anyway, the political battle over Delhi’s water crisis and the plight of Yamuna has intensified.
