Bihar Legislative Council member Dilip Kumar Jaiswal has been elected as the state president of Bihar BJP. Dilip was given the command of the party’s leadership last year. On Tuesday, Dilip was crowned as the state president in the presence of Union Minister and Observer Manohar Lal Khattar. His term will be of three years.
Dilip Jaiswal’s coronation was being postponed for the last several months. Finally, on March 4, he formally took over the post of BJP’s state president. Jaiswal’s grand coronation took place in the state executive meeting held in the capital’s Bapu Auditorium. Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, General Secretary Vinod Tawde, both Deputy CMs, all the state leaders and workers of the party were present on this occasion.
Has a simple personality
The biggest specialty of Dilip Jaiswal, who was elected as the state president of BJP, is his simple personality. Born on December 3, 1963, Jaiswal has done MBA, MSc, MPhil as well as PhD degrees. He is considered as a leader who is comfortable with everyone. He has also had a cordial relationship with the leaders of other parties.
Treasurer for twenty years
Before becoming the state president of BJP, Jaiswal has been the treasurer of BJP for twenty consecutive years. During this time, everyone acknowledged his efficiency. Dilip Jaiswal, a member of the current Bihar Legislative Council, has been elected as a Legislative Councilor for the third consecutive time. Currently, he is a member of the Legislative Council from Purnia-Araria-Kishanganj local authority.
Last year, when the Mahagathbandhan government fell in Bihar and after that when the NDA government was formed, Dilip Jaiswal got a place in the cabinet for the first time. He was made the Minister of Revenue and Land Reforms Department. While being a minister, Jaiswal was made the state president of BJP in place of Samrat Chaudhary in the month of July.
In-charge of Sikkim
Dilip Jaiswal is also in-charge of Sikkim, an important state of the Northeast. It was during his tenure as in-charge of Sikkim that the NDA performed well there. Just a year ago, the central leadership of BJP expressed confidence in Dilip for the second time in a row. Jaiswal is the director of Mata Gujri Medical College in Kishanganj district. Jaiswal, who belongs to the Vaishya community, is considered to have a good hold in the backward, extremely backward and Muslim communities. His image is that of an impeccable leader.
Chairman of State Storage Corporation
Dilip Jaiswal, who has held the responsibility of Bihar BJP treasurer, revenue and land reform department minister, has also held the post of chairman of Bihar State Storage Corporation from 2005 to 2008. He also contested the Lok Sabha elections from Kishanganj in 2014. A few days ago, Jaiswal resigned from the post of minister. Then he had said that he was resigning as per the one person one post principle of his party.
Fourth such state president in a row
After assuming the post of state BJP, Dilip Jaiswal joined the list of Samrat Chaudhary, Mangal Pandey and Dr. Sanjay Jaiswal, in which he was made the state president unopposed. The biggest litmus test for Jaiswal will be the assembly elections to be held this year.
Actually, assembly elections are to be held in Bihar this year. In such a situation, political skill will have to be shown in seat sharing with other NDA allies, maintaining coordination with the parties. BJP’s performance in the Bihar assembly elections will be a big challenge for Jaiswal.
