A huge amount of drugs has been seized from Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) took this action on the basis of a specific information. It is being told that these drugs have been recovered from two passengers, whose value is estimated to be in crores. Both the passengers had smuggled drugs from Bangkok to Lucknow, during this time when they were searched, drugs were recovered from their bags.
According to the information. The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) had received intelligence that drugs were being brought from Bangkok. After receiving the information, DRI officials stopped two passengers who came to Lucknow from Bangkok by flight number Air India Express IX 105 at Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport and their luggage was searched. During this, a huge amount of drugs was recovered from the bags of the passengers.
The value of the recovered drugs is around 24 crores
During interrogation, both the passengers confessed to having a huge amount of hydroponic weed (ganja) smuggled from Bangkok in their check-in luggage. The luggage of both the passengers was searched, resulting in the recovery of 23.935 kg of hydroponic weed (ganja). The illegal market value of the recovered 23.935 kg of hydroponic weed (ganja) is about Rs 24 crore.
Two passengers arrested
The hydroponic weed (ganja) was seized under the provisions of the NDPS Act and both the passengers have been arrested under the provisions of the NDPS Act, 1985 and sent to judicial custody. At present, the police is trying to find out where the accused were trying to take this drug and who else is involved with them in this work.
Drugs were recovered earlier also
However, this is not the first time that drugs have been recovered from an airport in Lucknow. Earlier, the DRI had recovered drugs from Amausi Airport on June 10. 15.46 kg of hydroponic ganja was recovered in Air India Express flight IX 104 coming from Bangkok to Lucknow. In this case, two accused were arrested by the police.
