Earthquake: Earthquake tremors were felt in West Bengal on Tuesday morning, 25 February. The magnitude of this earthquake in the Bay of Bengal was measured at 5.1 on the Richter scale. The National Center for Seismology (NCS) said that the earthquake occurred at 6:10 am.
People living in Kolkata were scared by the earthquake tremors in the morning and came out of their houses. However, so far there is no information about any kind of damage or casualties due to these tremors. According to the information, earthquake tremors were felt in other cities of West Bengal besides Kolkata.
According to the National Seismology Center, earthquake tremors were felt at 6.10 am on February 25. The epicenter of this earthquake was at a depth of 91 km in the Bay of Bengal.

Kolkata falls in seismic zone-3
Kolkata, the capital of West Bengal, is placed in seismic zone-3, which means that the city faces a moderate risk of earthquakes. Though it is not as vulnerable to major earthquakes as places like Northeast India, the Himalayas or Gujarat, the city experiences earthquakes from time to time. Usually, instead of hitting Kolkata directly, the epicentre is in the Bay of Bengal, Nepal or Northeast India.
Earthquake hit Himachal’s Mandi on Sunday
A moderate intensity earthquake hit Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi district on Sunday morning at 8.42 am. Earthquake tremors were felt in some parts of Mandi, although there was no report of loss of life or property. According to NCS, the magnitude of this earthquake was 3.7 and its epicenter was located at 31.48 degrees latitude and 76.95 degrees longitude in Mandi area.
