The U.S. Geological Survey said the magnitude-5.7 earthquake struck near Pahala on the main island of Hawaii, with its epicenter about 37 kilometers (23 miles) below the Earth’s surface. A website quoted the USGS as saying that the earthquake was felt throughout the main island. The agency said the possibility of loss of life or property is low.

There were no reports of injuries from the earthquake and damage appeared to be minimal, according to Charlotte Brown, Lincoln County’s deputy emergency management director. Due to the tremors of the earthquake, most of the items were overturned or shaken from the shelves inside the houses. Charlotte Brown said, “Nothing important.” Nothing but a lot of scared people.”

According to USGS, these earthquake tremors were felt late on Friday night at 11.24 pm. The earthquake was centered about 57 miles (92 kilometers) east of Oklahoma City, 8 kilometers northwest of Prague.
