The Election Commission of India has sounded the bugle for the Lok Sabha elections 2024 in the country. The Election Commission announced the dates on March 16 this month.
The country’s Chief Election Officer Rajiv Kumar said that this time the general elections will be held in 7 phases in the country. With the announcement of the elections, the model code of conduct also came into force in the country. Let us tell you that this time the voting for the Lok Sabha elections will be held on 19 April, 26 April, 7 May, 13 May, 20 May, 25 May and 1 June. The election results will be declared on 4 June. Meanwhile, the Election Commission took a big decision regarding the exit poll.
Election Commission issued notification
Let us tell you that the Election Commission issued a notification regarding the exit poll. In which the conduct, publication or promotion of exit polls has been banned between 7 am on April 19 and 6.30 pm on June 1. During this time, votes will be cast for the Lok Sabha and four state assembly elections in the country. The directive issued by the Commission on Thursday (March 28) clarifies that under the provisions of the Representation of the People Act, display of any election-related material, including opinion poll results or survey polls, on electronic media is prohibited during the period of 48 hours before the close of poll.
Assembly elections will be held in these states
Let us tell you that, along with the Lok Sabha elections in the country, the Election Commission is also going to conduct assembly elections and by-elections in many states. The states where assembly elections are going to be held include Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Odisha and Sikkim. Apart from this, separate by-elections will also be held for 25 assembly constituencies in 12 states of the country.
