Ecuador: Serious energy crisis in Ecuador, the situation has worsened to such an extent that people are facing serious problems due to energy crisis, the whole country is plunged into darkness; chaos has ensued

Ecuador Nationwide Blackout: Ecuador is heavily dependent on hydroelectric plants to meet its energy needs. Meanwhile, a serious energy crisis arose in Ecuador on Wednesday and the whole country was plunged into darkness. Due to the blackout, 18 million people remained in the dark for several hours. Public Works Minister Roberto Luque said that the power crisis arose due to the breakdown of the transmission line. The situation on Wednesday was such that around noon the subway system in the capital Quito came to a standstill and traffic lights stopped working.

The situation worsened

Posting on Twitter soon after the blackout, Luque said: “There is a fault in the transmission line, so there is no electricity in the whole country.” Quito Mayor Pabel Muñoz said on Twitter, “This incident must have been big, because it also caused the metro to lose power, which has its own separate system.” Local media reported that drinking water was not available in some areas, which worsened the situation.

The crisis is serious
The type of serious energy crisis that Ecuador is facing can be gauged from the fact that the government here has appealed to the people to reduce the consumption of energy. Due to the energy crisis, life in Ecuador has been badly affected. Most of the country’s energy comes from neighboring Colombia.

Problems have occurred earlier too

The energy crisis in Ecuador is not new. Earlier in April too, a serious energy crisis had arisen here. In Ecuador, which is facing drought, a huge drop in the water level of the reservoirs was seen. Especially the water level in those reservoirs from where electricity is produced had gone down drastically.
