Ranchi: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Sunday issued summons to Congress MLA and Jharkhand minister Alamgir Alam. ED has called him for questioning on May 14 at its Ranchi office. It is being told that the minister has been summoned in connection with the recovery of crores of rupees from the residential premises of Alamgir Alam’s personal secretary. Rs 35 crore was recovered from the hideouts of Jahangir Alam, servant of Alamgir Alam’s PA Sanjeev Lal. Sanjeev Lal and Jahangir Alam were arrested by ED.
37 crores were found in the house of PA Sanjeev’s domestic help.
Let us tell you that on May 6, ED raided the flat of Jahangir Alam, the domestic help of Alamgir Alam’s personal secretary Sanjeev Lal, and recovered more than Rs 37 crore in cash. After which he was arrested. The cash recovery was part of the raids conducted by the investigating agency at several places in Ranchi. Several counting machines were brought in to count the unaccounted cash. Apart from this, the agency officials had also recovered some jewelery from the flat of Jahangir Alam.
Investigation is going on in money laundering case
70-year-old Congress leader Alamgir Alam is the Rural Development Minister in Jharkhand and represents Pakur seat in the state assembly. The raid was in connection with the ongoing investigation in a money laundering case against former Jharkhand Rural Development Department chief engineer Virendra K Ram, who was arrested last year. This relates to alleged irregularities in the implementation of certain schemes in the department.
