Bhupesh Baghel on ED Raid: Enforcement Directorate (ED) raided the house of former Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh and senior Congress leader Bhupesh Baghel. ED took this action against Bhupesh Baghel’s son Chaitanya Baghel in the money laundering case of the alleged liquor scam. Congress leader Bhupesh Baghel himself has now reacted to this. He has told what ED found from his house.
Bhupesh Baghel has given information through a social media post, “They have found three things in my house – pen drive of conversation of transaction of crores between Manturam and Dr. Puneet Gupta (Dr. Raman Singh ji’s son-in-law), papers of Dr. Raman Singh’s son Abhishek Singh’s cell company, farming, dairy, Stridhan, “cash in hand” in the entire joint family totaling about Rs 33 lakh, whose account will be given to them.” At the same time, Bhupesh Baghel has claimed that ED officials have not been able to give any ECIR number.

‘I was reading newspaper and then ED came’
After ED raid at his house, former Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel said, “I was reading newspaper and drinking tea, then ED team came. I told them that they are welcome and I was waiting for them for months and years. My wife, three daughters, son, daughter-in-law, grandsons and granddaughters live here.” Speaking to news agency ANI, Bhupesh Baghel said, “We are farmers. We farm on 140 acres of land in a joint family. We had what we had declared. They investigated it. Rs 33 lakh in cash was found from different people – from my wife, son, daughter-in-law and daughters. We also do farming and run a dairy. This includes Stridhan as well. We told them that we will give them in writing that they have found Rs 30-33 lakh from our house.”
‘If you ask questions in the assembly, ED comes’ – Bhupesh Baghel
Bhupesh Baghel claims that during the raid, an atmosphere was created that note counting machines were brought. I don’t think this is a huge amount. It is clear that now asking questions in the assembly has become a crime. Kawasi Lakhma asked questions and ED reached his house. He was jailed within 8 days. I asked Vijay Sharma about housing for the poor. On the fourth day, ED came to my residence.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) raid at the house of former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has ended. ED officials have left Bhupesh Baghel’s residence. Bhupesh Baghel’s son has been called by the ED for questioning on Tuesday. As soon as the ED officials came out of Bhupesh Baghel’s house, Congress workers surrounded them. During this, there was a lot of scuffle between Congress workers and police personnel.
The police personnel barely sent the ED officials away from Bhupesh Baghel’s house. During this, stones were also thrown at the ED vehicle. The ED has raided 14 places in Chhattisgarh in connection with the money laundering case related to the alleged liquor scam. During the raid, the ED has found Rs 30 lakh in cash, pen drives and some documents, which are being investigated. The car of an ED deputy director level officer has also been attacked. At present, the ED is taking legal action in this regard.
Chaitanya Baghel is accused
Search operations were conducted at 14 places related to the liquor scam in Durg district of Chhattisgarh. These include the hideouts of Bhupesh Baghel’s son Chaitanya Baghel and his close aide Laxmi Narayan Bansal alias Pappu Bansal. According to ED, about Rs 2161 crore was embezzled in the liquor scam. This money was withdrawn illegally through various schemes and Chaitanya Baghel was one of those who got the money.

Congress said – strategy to divert attention from issues
The Congress alleged that the ED raid against Bhupesh Baghel was conducted to divert attention from the major issues facing the government in the second phase of the budget session of Parliament. Baghel’s office posted on his ‘X’ handle, “When the false case going on for seven years was dismissed in the court, ED guests have entered the Bhilai residence of former Chief Minister, Congress General Secretary Bhupesh Baghel this morning. If someone is trying to stop the Congress in Punjab with this conspiracy, then it is a misunderstanding.” Congress Organization General Secretary KC Venugopal claimed in a post on ‘X’ that this raid is part of the government’s diversionary strategy to avoid answers on major issues in Parliament. He said, “These are diversionary strategies. Whenever the Parliament session is going on, the burning issues of the people should be discussed, but they want to run away from these issues.
