These days, the flyover being built in Nagpur is in the news because the flyover is passing through the balcony of a house near Ashok Chowk. Local people are calling it the eighth wonder and are wondering why NHAI and Mahanagarpalika did not take any action before taking the flyover through the balcony. If this house is authorized, then why was it not acquired and given compensation and if it is unauthorized, then why was it not demolished? To know the whole truth, we reached Ashok Chowk. We also talked to the house owner Praveen Patre and his daughter Srishti. We also talked to senior BJP MLA Mohan Mate and the whole truth was revealed.
150 years old house
The house owner Praveen Patre and his daughter Srishti told that this is their 150-year-old place. Their sixth generation has been living here. This house was renovated 25 years ago. A part of the flyover is passing through the balcony of their house, they have no objection to it. When asked that she is very concerned about security, she said that she is not fooled by it. When asked if the map of this house has been approved, whether this balcony is authorized, she gave a vague answer.
Flyover being built at a cost of 998 crores
Let us tell you that the cost of this flyover of about 9.2 kilometers length is 998 crores. This flyover is being constructed under the supervision of National Highway Authority of India. NHAI officials, without coming in front of the camera, said that they had informed the Municipal Corporation in this regard. The responsibility of demolishing unauthorized construction work lies with Nagpur Municipal Corporation. Municipal Corporation officials are shying away from saying anything in this regard.
MLA talked about action
Meanwhile, South Nagpur MLA Mohan Mate said in this regard that he is also surprised that why the officials of Municipal Corporation, NIT and NHAI have not taken action on this till now. He said that all the officers involved in this should be suspended immediately. Development work is going on in Nagpur and due to the attitude of these officers, Nagpur is getting a bad name. Before going to the flyover balcony, this house owner should have seen the notice and demolished it.
