New Delhi: More than 50 world leaders, including US President Joe Biden, UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, UAE President and French President Emmanuel Macron, Italian Prime Minister Georgia Meloni and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, have congratulated outgoing Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the victory of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in the Lok Sabha elections. However, Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif had not sent any congratulatory message till the time of writing the news.
Leaders of these countries sent congratulatory messages
Presidents of Sri Lanka, Maldives, Iran and Seychelles and Prime Ministers of Nepal, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Myanmar and Mauritius have sent congratulatory messages to Modi. The spokesperson of the Chinese Foreign Ministry also congratulated Modi in a post ‘X’ and said that Beijing is looking forward to “healthy and stable China-India relations”. Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, in a post on the social media platform ‘X’, described the victory of the NDA alliance as “historic” and said that he is looking forward to working together with his Indian counterpart to celebrate the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries next year.

Among the G-20 countries, the Prime Ministers of Italy and Japan and the President of South Korea have congratulated Modi on his election victory. Italian Prime Minister Georgia Meloni said on ‘X’, “Congratulations and heartiest wishes to Narendra Modi on his victory in the election. I am confident that we will continue to work together to strengthen the friendship between Italy and India and further strengthen cooperation on various issues.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu congratulated his counterpart Narendra Modi on the victory of the BJP in the general elections in India and expressed hope that India-Israel relations will reach “new heights”. Netanyahu said on the social media platform ‘X’ that heartiest congratulations to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his success in the elections. He said, “I wish that the friendship between India and Israel continues to grow to new heights. Congratulations.
China congratulates PM Modi
China’s Ambassador to India Shu Feihong also congratulated Modi and NDA for the victory. He said, “Congratulations to Modi, BJP and BJP-led NDA on the victory in the Lok Sabha elections. I hope to make joint efforts with the Indian side for a strong and stable relationship between China and India.” Presidents from Africa to Nigeria, Kenya, Comoros have sent congratulatory messages to Modi. Leaders from the Caribbean Islands, Jamaica, Barbados, Guyana have also sent congratulatory messages to Modi.
The Prime Minister of Malaysia is among the South East Asian leaders who congratulated Modi. Maldives President Mohammad Muizzu said in his message that he is looking forward to working together with Modi. Muizzu said on ‘X’, “Congratulations to Prime Minister Modi, BJP and BJP-led NDA on their success for the third consecutive time in the 2024 general elections.” He said, “I want to work together to advance our common interests for the prosperity and stability of both the countries.
Sri Lankan President said this
Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe said in his message that he is looking forward to further strengthening bilateral relations. He said, “Being the closest neighbor, Sri Lanka is keen to further strengthen the partnership with India.” Bhutanese Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay also expressed hope for further strengthening of India-Bhutan relations during Modi’s third term. He said on ‘X’, “Congratulations to my friend Prime Minister Modi and NDA for their success for the third consecutive time in the world’s largest election. He is taking India to new heights. I look forward to working closely with him to further strengthen relations between the two countries.” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky welcomed the successful completion of the world’s largest democratic elections in India.

In this regard, we are also looking forward to seeing India participate in the peace summit.” An international peace summit regarding the Russia-Ukraine war is to be held on June 15-16 at the Bergenstock Resort in Switzerland.
After the NDA got a majority, Modi is poised to form the government for the third consecutive time. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) on Wednesday unanimously elected Narendra Modi as its leader. Though the BJP did not get a majority in the elections, the party-led coalition secured 293 out of 543 seats. The majority figure in the lower house is 272.
