Brussels: Before the completion of 2 years of Russia-Ukraine war, the European Union has announced major help for Ukraine. Due to this, the face of frustrated President Zelensky has brightened up again. Earlier, Zelensky had appealed to the European Union for help several times, but the EU countries had expressed their inability to provide further assistance. After this America came forward to help. Zelensky has run out of weapons fighting the war with Russia. At such a time, the European Union has now announced an aid of 50 billion Euro dollars to the Ukrainian Army.
Council President Charles Michel says the 27 EU countries have sealed an agreement on an aid package to Ukraine during an hour-long summit of their leaders. This approval has been given despite Hungary’s threat to ‘veto’ the move. “Leaders of the 27 EU countries agreed on an additional 50 billion euro (54 billion US dollars) support package for Ukraine under the EU budget,” Michel said in a post on ‘X’. Ukraine has got a big lifeline from this.
European Union also became empty while helping Ukraine
While helping Ukraine for the last two years, the arms stockpiles of the European Union countries also started becoming empty. Therefore, the European Union countries had extended their helping hand. But now by deciding to help Ukraine at the last moment, Zelensky’s morale has increased again. The announcement came despite strong objections from Hungary in December and ahead of Thursday’s summit in Brussels. Michel said the move shows that “the EU is exercising its leadership and responsibility in support of Ukraine, knowing what is at stake.”
