Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone starrer aerial action drama ‘Fighter’ has been released on the big screen today on 24th January. This film is Hrithik’s first big release after ‘Vikram Veda’ released in the year 2022. According to the trailer, it was already clear that it will tell the story of some of the best pilots of the Indian Air Force, who will leave no stone unturned to save the country. However, the film is not only about the IAF and fighter jets but also has emotional drama along with massive action sequences. If you want to watch ‘Fighter’ this weekend, then read this review till the end and understand what the film is going to serve on your platter.
story of the film
The story of ‘Fighter’ begins with the discussion of a plan by Pakistani Army officers and their sponsored terrorists to infiltrate into India. The lead actors are then introduced, where Hrithik plays the role of Shamsher Pathania aka Patty, the ‘best’ pilot of the Srinagar IAF station. Deepika Padukone is also one of the helicopter pilots and Anil Kapoor is her reporting boss.
Rishabh Sahni plays the role of the main antagonist i.e. the villain Azhar Akhtar in the film, who plans to attack the Indian Army with the help of Pak Army. In one attack, a fighter plane with two pilots crashes inside PoK. However, both pilots survive the accident. After this they fall into the custody of Pakistani Army. Now India is trying to bring these fighters back to India. This is the story of ‘Fighter’.
how is the direction
Siddharth Anand is popular for his action films like ‘War’ and ‘Pathan’, he has definitely tried his best to do the same in his recent release. But what was missing in ‘Fighter’ was the proper and full use of lead stars. Only about a quarter of the film consists of aerial fight scenes, in which the acting of these stars is hardly visible. These are simply fascinating sights to behold. However, the film is not only full of action scenes but the story of each character is also quite emotional.
The story of the film is not only based around the three lead actors, but the supporting actors have also been given ample opportunity to showcase their acting skills. Everyone has good screen time, meaning the supporting actors don’t look like fillers. People who like films on nationalism will definitely like this, because there are many such scenes in it which will give you goosebumps.
acting
The film stars Hrithik, Deepika and Anil Kapoor in lead roles and Karan Singh Grover, Akshay Oberoi, Sanjeeda Sheikh in supporting roles. The appearance of Sharib Hashmi and Ashutosh Rana in the film is a surprise, because their glimpse was not seen earlier in either the teaser or the trailer. The roles of both are small, but even in that short time, both are successful in winning hearts.
If we talk about the lead actors of ‘Fighter’, Anil Kapoor did what was required for his role. He is brilliant as a strict and disciplined senior officer. As always, Deepika Padukone wins hearts with her natural and effortless acting. Now coming to the most hyped character, which is Hrithik’s. The actor has lagged far behind in comparison to ‘Bang Bang’ and ‘War’. Her character of Patty is weak in many moments, but her look, demeanor and dance moves have made up for the minor shortcomings. While as pilots, the actors should be seen fighting enemies in the sky, they are seen more on the ground than in the sky. The supporting cast on the other hand also justified their on-screen presence well and you would not even for a second feel that they are inferior to the leads.
how is the whole movie
This film, which claims to have aerial action, lacks aerial action. Clearly, the kind of action scenes that fans were expecting from ‘Fighter’ will not be seen. The film seems a bit slow in the first half but picks up pace around the interval. People who get tears in their eyes after watching emotional scenes will definitely like three-four such sequences in the film. The director has tried his best to make the scenes effective and has been successful at many places. Many of the scenes depicted will not seem fake to you.
In the scenes where aerial action is shown, the acting of the actors has been affected, because due to the costumes and VFX, facial expressions and body language have been suppressed, due to which their acting has not been able to shine. By the way, the acting in all the scenes in which we have been seen is strong. Those who watch films based on nationalism will like this film very much. If you are expecting anything outstanding from the movie, you will definitely be disappointed.
