FIR filed against BJP MPs Nishikant Dubey, Manoj Tiwari and others for forcibly entering the sanctum sanctorum of Baba Baidyanath temple during Shravan month

An FIR has been registered against BJP MP Nishikant Dubey, Manoj Tiwari and others for allegedly forcibly entering the sanctum sanctorum of Baba Baidyanath temple during the month of Shravan.

The police say that this incident took place on the night of August 2, when the MP and his accomplices reached the sanctum sanctorum despite the VIP ban imposed on common devotees in the Shravan fair.

What is the whole matter

The Shravan fair is currently going on at Baba Baidyanath temple in Deoghar, in which lakhs of Kanwariyas come to offer water. For security and crowd control, the administration has banned VIP and VVIP entry during this month.

Priest Kartik Nath Thakur complained to the police that between 8:45 and 9 pm on the night of August 2, BJP MP Nishikant Dubey, Manoj Tiwari, Kanishkakant Dubey, Sheshadri Dubey and others broke the rules and entered the sanctum sanctorum.

Allegations of chaos in the crowd

According to the complaint, there was a scuffle with the policemen while trying to stop the entry of the MPs. During this, chaos spread among the thousands of devotees present there and a stampede-like situation arose. The priest also said that the MPs entered the sanctum sanctorum during the ‘Kancha Jal Puja’ ritual, which disrupted the worship.

The police have registered a case under several sections of the Indian Justice Code at Baba Baidyanath Temple Police Station. These include charges of hurting religious sentiments, interfering with religious tradition, obstructing government work and scuffle with policemen. The FIR was registered on August 7.

MP Nishikant Dubey’s reaction

Nishikant Dubey wrote on the social media platform ‘X’ (former Twitter), ‘This case is due to worship, so far 51 cases have been registered against me. Tomorrow I will go straight to the police station from Deoghar Airport and surrender.’

Shravan Mela runs for a month
In the month of Shravan, Kanwariyas take Gangajal from Sultanganj in Bihar and walk about 105 kms to offer water at Baba Baidyanath Dham. This time Shravan Mela has been going on for a month and till now about 55 lakh devotees have offered water here. In such a situation, crowd management and security remain a big challenge for the administration.
