Former Congress MLA from Jalna Kailash Gorantyal joined the Bharatiya Janata Party along with his supporters on Thursday (31 July). He was a Congress MLA when the Shiv Sena broke up. He gave the slogan ‘Pachas Khoke, Ekdum Ok’ which became very popular in the political circles of Maharashtra. This slogan was aimed at Eknath Shinde and the MLAs of his faction.

Ravindra Chavan welcomed them into the party

State President Ravindra Chavan welcomed everyone in the party entry program organized at the BJP state office. Along with former corporators of Congress, former Zila Parishad and Panchayat Samiti members also joined the BJP in large numbers.

On this occasion, Ravindra Chavan said, “It is a matter of joy for us that ground level worker Kailash Gorantyal has joined BJP. The responsibility of solving many issues related to this area lies with the Mahayuti government and all of us. Expressing faith in BJP’s politics of development, the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Gorantyal has joined BJP to fulfill the resolution of ‘Developed India’ and ‘Developed Maharashtra’. We will all maintain his faith and the party will give full support to all of them.”

Did not join BJP with any post or expectation- Gorantyal
While joining BJP, Gorantyal said that he did not join BJP with any post or expectation. He has taken this decision only for the purpose of development, expressing faith in the decisive leadership of the Center and the State. He also said that the first mayor in the first Mahapalika election of Jalna will be from BJP. Whatever responsibility the party gives him, he will fulfill it with full honesty.

Gorantyal lost the 2024 assembly elections

Gorantyal, a three-time MLA in 1999, 2009 and 2019, lost the 2024 assembly elections. He contested on a Congress ticket from Jalna seat, where Arjun Khotkar of the Shinde faction defeated him by a margin of 31651. After this defeat, Gorantyal got angry at the party and alleged that he could not win due to the delay in his candidature.
