Former Congress MLA Sumesh Shaukeen joined the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Monday in the presence of Arvind Kejriwal. After joining the party, Shaukeen expressed his commitment to work under the leadership of AAP’s national convenor Arvind Kejriwal for the betterment of Delhi’s rural areas (Delhi Dehat). During this, Shaukeen said, whatever work has been done for the development of Delhi’s rural areas has been done under the leadership of Arvind Kejriwal. In view of that, today I am joining AAP.
Described as the prominent leader of Delhi rural
During this, Aam Aadmi Party convenor and former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal welcomed Sumesh Shaukeen to the party and called him the “prominent leader” of Delhi rural. Kejriwal said, “Big leaders from rural Delhi are leaving Congress and joining AAP, which I welcome. Before our government, no work was done in rural Delhi. Sheila Dikshit did not even know that farming is also done in rural Delhi. We built schools, STPs and roads in rural Delhi. The work that is done in Delhi city, the same work is now done in rural Delhi. Somesh Shaukeen’s joining will strengthen the party.”
Will Gulab Singh’s ticket be cut?
Let us tell you that Somesh Shaukeen had won from Matiala assembly in 2008 on a Congress ticket. AAP’s current MLA from Matiala assembly is Gulab Singh. It is considered certain that Gulab Singh’s ticket will be cut this time. Gulab Singh has been beaten up several times in the area.
