Breaking News

Former Darbhanga district president Mandal has resigned from the primary membership of the party, accusing the JDU leadership of neglecting the extremely backward classes and has now joined the RJD.

All political parties in Bihar are busy preparing for the upcoming assembly elections. They are formulating strategies to capture power in the state. While populist promises are being made to the public, accusations and counter-accusations are also rife. Meanwhile, the JDU has suffered a major setback before the elections. Party MLA Gopal Mandal has left the JDU and joined the RJD.

Several JDU leaders and workers joined the RJD at a get-together held in Patna on Wednesday (October 8). The event, held at the state office, was presided over by RJD state president Manganilal Mandal. He welcomed the JDU leaders, led by Gopal Mandal, former district president of Darbhanga, and state general secretary Chand Ansari, into the party. RJD leader and Leader of the Opposition in the Bihar Assembly, Tejashwi Yadav, also expressed his happiness and welcomed Gopal Mandal to the party.

Former Darbhanga District President Gopal Mandal resigned from the party’s primary membership, accusing the JDU leadership of neglecting the Extremely Backward Classes. Mandal stated that during the past 20 years of rule, the JDU garnered votes from the Extremely Backward Classes, but consistently ignored their rights and entitlements. He alleged that the party deliberately squelched the potential for leadership within the Extremely Backward Classes.

“Extremely Backward Classes Ignored”
In his letter to the state president, Gopal Mandal wrote that during the past 20 years of rule, the JDU garnered substantial support and votes from the Extremely Backward Classes, but their rights were ignored at every level. He stated that the party deliberately sidelined the very sections that had strengthened its political base. Mandal specifically stated that the Dhanuk caste, a significant segment of the Extremely Backward Classes, felt betrayed. He alleged that the vibrant socialist ideology, which was given birth by Jananayak Karpuri Thakur and furthered by Lalu Prasad Yadav, has been extinguished by JDU over the past two decades under feudal influence.

“It is no longer appropriate to remain in JDU.”
The former district president said that due to JDU’s policies, all possibilities for leadership to emerge from the bottom up among the extremely backward classes have been eliminated. Today, this class is hurt and angry due to the party’s policies and working style. He said that he was forced to take this decision due to public pressure and the interests of society. He clearly stated, “It is no longer appropriate to remain in JDU.” Gopal Mandal’s resignation is being considered a major blow to JDU. Gopal Mandal is considered to have a strong hold in many districts of Mithila, including Darbhanga.
