Former IPS officer Shivdeep Lande announced a political party called ‘Hind Sena’, Lande entered politics after resigning from IPS

Patna: Former Indian Police Service officer Shivdeep Lande on Tuesday announced the formation of a new political party. His party named ‘Hind Sena’ will try its luck in the assembly elections to be held in Bihar later this year. Let us tell you that 2006 batch IPS officer Lande resigned from the Indian Police Service about a year ago. He was known as ‘Singham of Bihar’ due to his excellent work style. He announced the formation of Hind Sena in a press conference in Patna.

‘Roots are in Maharashtra, but the land of work is Bihar’
49-year-old Lande said on the occasion of the launch of the party that even though his roots are connected to Maharashtra, he considers Bihar as his ‘karmabhoomi’. Let us tell you that Lande is the son-in-law of Shiv Sena leader and former minister in the Maharashtra government, Vijay Shivtare. He said, ‘While being in IPS, I tried my best to serve the people, but then I was bound by the All India Service Conduct Rules. I realised my limitations when, despite my very good intentions, I could not help the public in matters that were outside the purview of the police.’

‘Rajya Sabha ticket was offered’

Lande said that his party will participate ‘100 per cent’ in the upcoming assembly elections. However, he did not give a direct answer to the question whether he would contest the elections himself. Lande said, ‘We are currently focusing on organisation building. You can see all the candidates of the Hind Sena Party as candidates contesting on behalf of Shivdeep Lande. I am not looking for any ‘shortcut’ to enjoy power. After my resignation, I was offered a Rajya Sabha ticket from a big party, but I was following my ideals. I travelled all over Bihar and realised that there is scope for a political option.

Born in a farmer family

Shivdeep Lande was born on 29 August 1976 in Akola district of Vidarbha region of Maharashtra. He was born in a farmer family. He married Mamta Shivtare on 2 February 2014 and has a daughter named Arha. Mamta Shivtare is the daughter of Vijay Shivtare, who has been the Water Resources and Water Conservation Minister of Maharashtra. Lande was educated in Maharashtra, but he gained tremendous popularity as an IPS officer in Bihar.

Why is Shivdeep Lande famous in Bihar?

Before resigning from the Indian Police Service, Shivdeep Lande was serving as Deputy Commissioner of Police- Anti Narcotics Cell, Crime Branch, Mumbai in Maharashtra Police on central deputation. Prior to this, he served as SP in Patna, Araria, Purnia and Munger districts of Bihar. He was quite popular as SP of Patna (Central Zone). He arrested many dreaded criminals in his career and took strict action against them. This is the reason why he got many nicknames in Bihar like ‘Dabangg’, ‘Singham’ and Supercop.
