Gangrape In Assam: Seven miscreants raped a 28-year-old woman at knifepoint while she was travelling in a car with her fiancé on the Silchar bypass in Assam. Police have arrested one accused.

A heinous incident that shames humanity has come to light from Silchar, Assam. A 28-year-old woman was gang-raped in front of her fiancé on the Ramnagar Bypass Road. She was later extorted ₹10,000. This brutality has not only raised questions about law and order but also sparked widespread outrage among locals.

The incident occurred on the night of February 19th. According to reports, the victim was out on a long car drive with her future husband (fiancé). When they arrived near the Ramnagar Bypass in Silchar, a group of miscreants surrounded them.

The victim stated in her complaint that approximately seven men stopped her car and forcibly pulled her out. The miscreants held her fiancé hostage at knifepoint and gang-raped the woman. The brutality did not stop there; the accused also extorted money from her. According to reports, the miscreants intimidated the victim into transferring ₹10,000 to their account. They also took whatever money she had. In total, the accused robbed her of ₹20,000.

Police arrested one of the main accused

After the case was registered, the police department was in a state of panic. According to police officials, the victim has undergone a medical examination. Her statement has been recorded before a magistrate. Acting swiftly, the police have arrested one of the main accused, while the search for others is ongoing. Following this incident, a wave of anger has erupted across Assam, including Silchar. Thousands of people are demanding the death penalty for the accused on social media.

Many leaders, including MPs, condemned the incident

The issue has also drawn sharp reactions from political circles. Several prominent leaders, including Trinamool Congress Rajya Sabha MP Sushmita Dev, have strongly condemned the incident and demanded the Home Department ensure the strictest possible action against the accused.
