Gujarat: Around 25 students of classes 5 to 7 of a primary school in Gujarat allegedly injured themselves with the blade of a pencil sharpener as part of a ‘dare game’, police said on Wednesday. According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Jaiveer Gadhvi, students of Mota Munjiasar Prathmik Vidyalay in Bagsara of Amreli district challenged each other to either hurt themselves or pay Rs 10 if they did not do so. He said around 20-25 students hit their hands with blades.

Jaiveer Gadhvi said the matter came to light when a concerned parent informed the school administration. An immediate parent-teacher meeting was called, but later the parents approached the police and demanded a thorough investigation into the matter. Gadhvi said a report of the incident would be submitted to the District Education Officer (DEO). He said no criminal intent was found, but if any criminal act comes to light, the police will take action accordingly.
