Haryana Assembly News: There was an uproar in the Haryana Assembly on Tuesday after Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLAs raised the issue of alleged irregularities during recruitment to government jobs during the previous Congress government.
Congress MLAs objected to the comments of the ruling party MLAs and later walked out of the House. The uproar started as soon as the Zero Hour began.
BJP MLA O.P. Yadav, citing a court decision, said that in 2008, when the Congress was in power, the top candidate in the police recruitment was wrongly denied a government job and the job was given to someone else.
‘Jobs were not given on the basis of merit’
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Mahipal Dhanda supported his party MLA’s claim that jobs were not given on the basis of merit during the previous Congress government. He targeted the then Bhupendra Hooda-led government.
Hooda was not present in the House when there was an uproar on this issue. Congress members present in the House strongly objected to this claim of BJP MLAs and argued with the MLAs of the ruling party.
Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini intervened amid the uproar and said that it is unfortunate how favoritism was practiced in giving government jobs during the Congress regime. Saini said that the court accepted that the youth who secured the top position did not get the job, but it was given to someone else. He said that this matter is related to the recruitment of 2008.
Minister Anil Vij took a dig
Haryana government minister Anil Vij also joined the debate. Vij took a dig at the Congress and said, “How they used to play with the future of the youth.” Congress members including Raghuveer Singh Kadian, Kuldeep Vats, Aftab Ahmed and other members of the opposition party opposed the comments of the BJP members. After the uproar that lasted for about 20 minutes, the Zero Hour continued.
