Himachal Pradesh: Former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur fiercely targeted the Chief Minister Sukhu government and said that the Congress government makes allegations against the Central government every day from the House to the streets, but the state government is not able to spend the thousands of crores of rupees received from the Centre.

Former Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister and Leader of the Opposition, Jairam Thakur, issued a statement from Mandi, sharply criticizing the Chief Minister Sukhu government. He said that the Congress government, from the House of Representatives to the streets, blames the central government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi every day, but the truth is that the state government itself is unable to spend the thousands of crores of rupees received from the central government.

Jairam Thakur said that the Sukhu government constantly accuses the central government of not providing funds, while the truth is that crores of rupees are returned every year due to inability to spend them.

He said that the central government provides funds to Himachal Pradesh for public welfare schemes, but the Sukhu government’s intentions are flawed and its vision is lacking. The funds meant for the public’s welfare are not reaching the ground. It seems as if the government is more interested in filling its own pockets than in development.

He sarcastically said that this is a matter of shame for those who raise the slogan of system change.

Received ₹954 crore, failed to spend even half
The former Chief Minister said that the Central Government had allocated ₹954 crore to Himachal’s Health Department for the financial year 2024-25, but the government failed to spend even half of it.

He added that when Union Health Minister and BJP National President JP Nadda recently visited Himachal, he allocated an additional ₹123 crore for the Mother and Child Protection Scheme.

Thakur said that Nadda himself urged Chief Minister Sukhu to use the central funds for the public good, but due to the Sukhu government’s negligence, the schemes remain incomplete.

The government will not be able to spend even the 2025-26 budget
Jairam Thakur alleged that the current government’s focus is not on development, but on blaming the central government. He said, “The central government has approved more than ₹1050 crore for the financial year 2025-26. But judging by the performance so far, it seems the Sukhu government will not be able to spend even this budget.”

He questioned that when the country’s Health Minister himself is saying to use the funds received from the Center, yet the Himachal government is doing nothing, then who is responsible for this inefficiency?

Thakur said that this situation is not just in health, but in almost every department in the state. Central schemes and grants remain stuck in files. He said, if the government spends less time blaming the BJP and the Center and more time working, the state can develop.

Center provides relief of 843 crore rupees before the festivals
The Leader of the Opposition stated that keeping in mind the festival season, the Central Government has given Himachal 843 crore rupees as advance tax share, so that the state government can make salaries and other payments to its employees on time.

He said, “The Central Government is continuously supporting Himachal. Whatever assistance is needed will continue to be provided. But the state government must also understand its responsibility.”

Congratulates New Members of the BJP Working Committee
Jairam Thakur congratulated the new members and permanent invitees of the BJP Himachal Pradesh Working Committee. He said that with the experience of senior colleagues and the enthusiasm of young workers, the BJP will reach new heights in Himachal.

“India is becoming self-reliant from chips to ships”
At the Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan program held in Thunag, Saraj Assembly constituency, Jairam Thakur said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India has taken historic steps towards self-reliance.

He said that today we are not only manufacturing small arms, but also fifth-generation fighter planes, missiles, Chandrayaan, and Gaganyaan. The success of Operation Sindoor is a great example of India’s self-reliance.

He appealed to the people to adopt indigenous and Made in India products. Thakur said that today, products made in India are not only affordable, but their quality also surpasses global standards.

He expressed confidence that with the public’s support in this campaign of Atmanirbhar Bharat, India will achieve the dream of becoming a “developed nation” ahead of schedule.
