A horrific incident of landslide has been reported from Sainj valley of Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh. A large part of the mountain broke and fell down. Due to the accident, the electric wires broke and the road got blocked.
It is a matter of relief that no one was injured in this. The local administration is keeping a close watch on the situation.
The situation worsened due to intermittent heavy rains in Himachal Pradesh since Monday. More than 300 roads remained blocked and the supply of electricity and water is badly affected.
More than 300 roads remained closed
According to the State Emergency Operation Center (SEOC), out of 315 closed roads, the maximum 181 were in Mandi district, while 84 in Kullu, 23 in Kangra, 11 in Sirmaur, 7 in Una and 5 in Shimla were affected. 491 water supply schemes remained stalled, of which 367 were in Kullu district alone. Power supply was also disrupted as 72 transformers were not working, of which 40 were in Solan and 20 in Mandi district.
Two vehicles badly damaged in landslide
Two vehicles were badly damaged in a landslide on the Paonta Sahib-Shilai highway in Sirmaur, although both the drivers suffered only minor injuries. So far this monsoon, 229 people have died in the state and a loss of about ₹2007 crore has been incurred since June 20.
Nine houses evacuated due to landslide
Nine houses have been evacuated due to continuous landslides in Tanipari village of Mandi and people are taking shelter in temporary accommodation. According to the coordinator of environmental organization Himalaya Niti Abhiyan, the existence of the village is in danger and the administration should immediately arrange for relocation.

Kullu is cloudy and the temperature is around 16 °C. There is a possibility of rain today in the morning-afternoon and afternoon, with the temperature being between 18-20 °C.
