In this regard, India and the United Nations (UN) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to renew a dedicated project to broadcast news in Hindi from the United Nations and increase access to people through the Hindi language. Now Hindi will be able to become a global voice.

India’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations P. Harish and Melissa Fleming, Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations Department of Global Communications, signed a Memorandum of Understanding to renew the ‘Hindi@United Nations’ project for a period of five years from April 1, 2025 to March 31, 2030 at a ceremony held at the Permanent Mission of India on Wednesday. The Government of India has said that it will give US $ 1.5 million per year for five years for this program.

Fleming emphasized the importance of social media in the present times and focused on DGC’s efforts to disseminate the message in Hindi through the program by maximizing the use of social media. On this occasion, Harish said that the renewal of the MoU is a testimony to the Government of India’s commitment to give greater importance to Hindi, including its inclusion as one of the non-official languages ​​​​in the United Nations. Senior UN officials etc. attended the program. The ‘Hindi@United Nations’ project was launched in 2018 in collaboration with the United Nations Department of Public Information, with the aim of increasing the public reach of the United Nations through the Hindi language and spreading more awareness about global issues among millions of Hindi speaking people around the world.
