New Delhi: During the winter session of Parliament, a discussion was organized in the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha on the completion of 75 years of the Constitution. During this, the country’s Home Minister Amit Shah put forth his point in the Rajya Sabha today. Home Minister Amit Shah fiercely targeted the Congress party. During this, he also criticized the statement made by Rahul Gandhi regarding Veer Savarkar. Amit Shah said that lies have always been spread against Veer Savarkar.
No party or government gave the word ‘Veer’
Union Home Minister Amit Shah said in the Rajya Sabha, ‘I cannot repeat the statement made by a Congress leader for Savarkar during the discussion in the Lok Sabha. The word Veer in front of his name has not been given by any government or any party. 140 crore people have given Veer in front of his name due to his bravery. Such statements are given in the country’s largest panchayat for such a patriot. Lies have been spread in this regard for many years. In the freedom struggle from 1857 to 1947, if there is a person who has got two life imprisonments in one life, then it is Veer Savarkar. If anyone had the courage to break the toilet and jump into the river to get freedom for the country, then it was Veer Savarkar. Two brothers were serving the sentence of Kala Pani in the same jail. The brothers did not see each other for 10 years, the country has never seen such a brave family again.’
Indira ji also called Veer Savarkar a great revolutionary
Amit Shah further said, ‘Can patriotism be associated with any ideology? Can sacrifice for the country be associated with any religion?’ Amit Shah said that Indira ji said on Savarkar’s death, ‘Savarkar was a great person, his name is synonymous with courage and patriotism. A great revolutionary, who inspired countless people.’ In another sentence, Indira Gandhi had written a letter to Shri Wakhale that ‘I received your letter, Veer Savarkar’s courageous resistance to the British government has an important place in the history of our freedom struggle. I extend my best wishes for the birth centenary of this son of India.’ Amit Shah said to the Congress that you may not listen to us but you do not even listen to Indira ji.
Amit Shah lashed out at the opposition in Rajya Sabha
Responding to the two-day discussion on the topic of ’75 years of glorious journey of the Constitution of India’ in the Rajya Sabha, Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday lashed out at the opposition. Targeting the Congress and other opposition parties for raising doubts on the Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) in the elections, Shah said that when the results of the assembly elections of two states have come on the same day and a party has been wiped out in one and won in the other, then those who question the EVM should be ashamed.
‘Went to Jharkhand, took oath wearing new clothes’
Taking a dig at the Congress, Shah said that after losing the elections, the people of this party roam around with EVM saying that it has defeated them. He said that the Supreme Court rejected 24 applications related to EVM and the Election Commission invited people to hack the EVM for 3 days but no one came. Shah said that the opposition was wiped out in the recent Maharashtra assembly elections, the people of Maharashtra punished them for the betrayal of the mandate. He said, ‘On the same day they (the opposition) won in Jharkhand. The EVM in Maharashtra is faulty and they went to Jharkhand and took oath wearing new clothes. Hey brother, have some shame, the public is watching.’
‘Now some politicians call themselves young at the age of 54’
Responding to the discussion on the Constitution, Shah said that the Constitution of India is not a copy of anyone. He said that along with taking good points from the constitutions of different countries in the Constitution of India, full attention has been given to the traditions of our country. Without taking the name of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, the Home Minister said in gestures, ‘Now some politicians have come, they call themselves young at the age of 54. They keep roaming around and keep saying that they will change the Constitution, they will change the Constitution. I want to tell them that the provision for changing the Constitution is in Article 368 of the Constitution itself.’ He said that BJP ruled for 16 years in which the Constitution was amended 22 times, whereas the Constitution was amended 77 times in the 55 years of Congress rule.
‘The first amendment was to curtail the fundamental rights’
Amit Shah claimed that it is worth seeing who amended the Constitution for the welfare of the citizens of the country and who made changes in it to save his power. Referring to the constitutional amendments made during the reign of the government of former Prime Ministers Jawaharlal Nehru and Indira Gandhi, the Home Minister said that the first amendment to the Constitution was brought to curtail the fundamental rights of the citizens. He criticized the Congress for imposing emergency in the country and toppling the elected government by imposing Article 356.
