Hurriyat leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq wrote on X, ‘This is very shameful! An obscene fashion show was organized in Gulmarg in the holy month of Ramadan. Whose pictures and videos have gone viral, causing resentment and anger among the people.’
Obscenity will not be tolerated in Kashmir – Mirwaiz
He further wrote, “How can this be tolerated in the valley known for Sufi, saint culture and deep religious outlook of the people? Those involved in this should be held accountable immediately. Such obscenity in the name of promoting tourism will not be tolerated in Kashmir.”
What did CM Omar Abdullah say?
Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has also reacted to this. He said, ‘Shock and anger are completely understandable. The pictures I have seen show complete disregard for local sensitivities and that too during this holy month. My office is in touch with the local authorities and I have asked for a report within the next 24 hours. Further action will be taken on the basis of this report, as appropriate.”
However, Hurriyat leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq says that those involved in organizing this event should be held accountable. At the same time, CM Omar Abdullah is talking about taking action on the basis of the report.
