PAKISTAN ELECTION:A former MLA and PTI leader was injured during a protest rally against alleged election rigging in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan. During the protest, the police lathicharged them, in which Pashtun nationalist Mohsin Dawar was injured.
Former member of the National Assembly and president of the National Democratic Movement, Dawar and his other supporters were protesting on Saturday. They were protesting in North Waziristan district against the delay in announcement of election results. A protestor who took part in the rally said that the injured have been taken to the hospital.
Police fired on protesters
According to the protesters, the police started firing against the protesters and used tear gas. Dawar was a member of the National Assembly from August 2018 to August 2023. Co-founder of the human rights movement, Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM), Dawar has also previously served as president of the Pashtun Students Federation, a national youth organization and an affiliate of the Awami National Party.
Allegations of election rigging in Punjab province
A leader of the Pakistan Muslim League (Quaid-e-Azam group) was shot dead by security forces during a protest against “rigging” in elections in Pakistan’s Punjab province on Friday evening, according to a local media report, a local PTI Gave information about the worker being seriously injured. Local PTI workers had taken out a rally to protest against alleged rigging in the February 8 elections and marched to the office of the District Returning Officer.
Who gets how many seats in Pakistan elections?
Elections were held in Pakistan on 8 February. No party has got majority in the National Assembly. The leaders of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf had contested the elections independently with the support of the party. PTI leaders are continuously making allegations of rigging in the elections. Many leaders told that even after their victory was confirmed, they lost. 100 PTI supported candidates have won the elections. Apart from these, Nawaz Sharif’s party has got 73 seats and Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s party has got 55 seats. Small parties have also got one to three seats.
