In the Ujiarpur police station area of Samastipur district, at around 8 p.m. on Thursday night, criminals shot and killed village headman Manoranjan Giri. The accused fled the scene after committing the crime. It is reported that Pradhan Manoranjan Giri had arrived near a water tank on the NH side of the village panchayat for some work when the criminals shot him. The gunshots sent the entire area into a panic. A large crowd gathered shortly afterward.
Body sent for post-mortem
The police were subsequently informed of the incident. Upon receiving the information, the police, along with the FSL team, arrived at the scene. The police have collected evidence from the scene, taken the body into custody, and sent it for a post-mortem examination. They have also begun investigating the case. A Murder Also Occurred on Wednesday
Earlier on Wednesday, miscreants shot and killed a shopkeeper in Sihi village, under the Hasanpur police station area of Samastipur district. The deceased was identified as Surendra Kumar (30). The people of Samastipur had barely recovered from this incident when another murder came to light.
