Samajwadi Party leader Amarendra Nishad narrowly escaped an assassination attempt when his cousin shot at him. Fortunately, the SP leader survived the attack. Amarendra Nishad has accused his cousin of firing the shot. Amarendra Nishad stated that his cousin, who was sitting in a car, called him over, and as soon as he approached, the cousin suddenly fired a licensed revolver at his chest. Luckily, the bullet missed him. He then informed the police. The police registered a case, arrested his cousin, and are currently interrogating him to determine the motive behind the shooting.
Amarendra Nishad, a resident of Khuthan Khas in the Gulriha police station area of Gorakhpur, is the son of the late Jamuna Nishad, a minister in the BSP government. Amarendra Nishad has filed a complaint with the Gulriha police against his cousin, Ravindra Nishad. Amarendra Nishad and his mother, Rajmati Nishad, have also requested police protection. Amarendra stated that on Tuesday, he was standing near his house when, at around 2:30 PM, his cousin, who lives nearby, called him outside.
Police Arrest Accused
Suddenly, his cousin fired a revolver at Amarendra. The bullet narrowly missed him, saving his life. Amarendra Nishad said that he has filed a complaint with the Gulriha police. The police immediately arrested Ravindra Nishad, the person who fired the shot. In his complaint to the police, Amarendra stated that he fears for his life from Ravindra and his family and has requested police protection.
Father was a Minister in the BSP Government
Amarendra Nishad contested the last election on a Samajwadi Party ticket from the Pipraich assembly constituency but was defeated. His father, Jamuna Nishad, was a minister in the BSP government. He was considered a messiah of the Nishad community in Gorakhpur. He had also given Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath a tough fight in the elections. After his death, his wife, Rajmati Nishad, was elected as an MLA from Pipraich. Following this, she fielded her son, Amarendra, in the elections.
