He shared a clip of the speech of the country’s first non-Congress Prime Minister Morarji Desai at that time. In which Morarji Desai says that during the Emergency, people had to face many atrocities. He said that during this Emergency, people’s freedom was taken away. Even the newspapers that wrote against the government were closed down. Not only this, the courts were also closed at that time. More than one lakh people who spoke about their rights were put in jail. Indira Gandhi’s government ruled the country as per its will. He said that it is difficult to find an example of this even in the history of the world.

Anyone could be arrested under MISA
The PM said that during the Emergency, anyone could be arrested under MISA. He said that several lakh people were arrested under this and they had to endure many kinds of torture. Giving an example of this, he said that politician George Fernandes Saheb was also arrested by the government and he was tied in chains. During this time, he was given many kinds of harsh torture.
