An Iranian official has told a news agency that nearly 2,000 people have been killed so far during the ongoing protests in the country, and that “terrorists” are responsible for these deaths.

Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has issued a direct challenge to the United States, stating that Tehran is prepared to respond to any American action, including military action. Araghchi said that Iran is now ready for any war. “If they want to try the military option again, which they have already tried, then we will respond, and we will respond decisively.”

Iran warns the US

Iran has issued a warning to the United States, stating that it is well aware of its enemies and is strong. The Iranian embassy in India said that pro-government demonstrations in the country have thwarted the plans of foreign enemies.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the embassy said, “The great Iranian nation has revealed its identity, its resolve, and its true nature to its enemies. This is a warning to American politicians to stop their deception and not rely on treacherous mercenaries. The Iranian nation is strong and powerful, well aware of and recognizes its enemies, and is always present on the field. May God bless you all.”

The movement in Iran has intensified

It should be noted that the nationwide protests in Iran, which began at the end of last year, in December 2025, have now intensified. These protests in Iran started against government policies but have now transformed into an open rebellion against the Islamic Republic and Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Protesters in Iran are taking to the streets, chanting slogans such as “Death to the dictator,” “Remove Khamenei,” and calling for the return of exiled Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi.
