Muzaffarpur: A shocking incident has come to light from Muzaffarpur district of Bihar. In Ward number 17 of Sikandarpur police station area, in Balughat Lane number 3, a husband, angered by not having a son, allegedly murdered his wife with the help of his brothers. The deceased has been identified as Phoolo Devi. After the murder, the body was stuffed into a sack and thrown into a drain that empties into the Budhi Gandak river near Ashram Ghat. On Friday, children playing cricket near the riverbank spotted the sack. When dogs started tearing at the sack, the children raised an alarm, and people from the surrounding area gathered at the spot. Upon receiving the information, the Sikandarpur police, City SP, City ASP, and other officials also reached the scene.
Woman had been missing since January 22
The deceased woman’s brother, Shivnath Shah, identified the body at the crime scene. Shivnath Shah said that Phoolo Devi had been missing since January 22. A named FIR was registered against her husband, Santosh Shah, and his three brothers at the Sikandarpur police station on January 25. The family members have leveled serious allegations that the police remained inactive even after the case was registered. The family members say that if the police had taken the accused into custody and interrogated them in time, Phoolo Devi’s life might have been saved.
Brother had filed the FIR
The FIR named Phoolo’s husband, Santosh Shah, and his three brothers. The deceased woman’s brother alleges that Santosh and his family members constantly harassed Phoolo because she did not have a son. This is why she was murdered. He also alleged that despite the FIR being registered, the police did not interrogate the accused in time.
Police investigating the incident
The City SP said that the body appears to be three to four days old, raising the suspicion that Phoolo was murdered after the FIR was registered, and the body was stuffed into a sack and thrown near the riverbank to destroy evidence. The FSL team is also conducting an investigation. It has been reported that the main accused, Santosh Shah, runs a juice stall in front of Krishna Talkies. Police raided the area to arrest him, but Santosh and his brother have been absconding for the past three days. Police have detained one suspect and begun questioning him.
