Shah thanks people for overwhelming support
Union Home Minister Amit Shah thanked the people of Maharashtra for giving “overwhelming support” to the BJP-led MahaYuti alliance in the local body elections. He said the election results show the “victory of good governance and politics of development.” Shah said the MahaYuti’s victory reflects the “people’s blessings” on the vision of welfare for all sections of society adopted by the NDA governments at the Centre and in the state. According to a statement issued by the BJP, “Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah expressed his gratitude to the people of Maharashtra for giving overwhelming support to the MahaYuti in the Nagar Panchayat and Nagar Parishad elections.” “Amit Shah said that this mandate reflects the clear trust and strong support of the people of Maharashtra.
‘People gave us 100 percent positive votes’
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said that the success of the ‘Mahayuti’ alliance in the municipal council and nagar panchayat elections is the result of the joint efforts of the BJP organization and the government. He expressed confidence that the alliance will perform even better in the upcoming municipal corporation elections. Fadnavis said, “This is the result of the collective efforts of both the organization and the government. We fought the elections on the issue of development. I led a campaign based on a positive development agenda, and I never criticized any political leader or party. We sought votes based on the work we have done so far and our future plans. For the first time, I asked for 100 percent positive votes, and the people gave us 100 percent positive votes.”
Congress ‘congratulates’ the State Election Commission
The opposition parties Congress and Shiv Sena (UBT) have more or less accepted their defeat in the civic polls, although they accused the Election Commission of ‘helping’ the ruling ‘Mahayuti’ alliance win. After the Mahayuti’s victory across Maharashtra, the Congress targeted the State Election Commission. State Congress President Harshvardhan Sapkal congratulated the party candidates who won the municipal council president and councilor positions. He ‘congratulated’ the State Election Commission for ‘helping’ the ruling ‘Mahayuti’ alliance in the elections. It is worth noting that the Congress had claimed victory in 41 municipal council president positions, although according to the Election Commission’s figures, it won only 28 seats.
Sanjay Raut alleges EVM tampering
Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut accused the ‘Mahayuti’ alliance of tampering with electronic voting machines (EVMs). He also alleged that the ruling coalition used “money power.” Raut said, “If you look at the figures from the assembly elections of the BJP, Shiv Sena, and NCP, and now the figures from the municipal elections, they are identical. The machines used in the assembly elections are the same. The machine settings are the same, and the method of using money in the elections is also the same.” Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Ambadas Danve said, “The ‘Mahayuti’ has secured more seats compared to the constituents of the Maha Vikas Aghadi, which is attributable to the muscle power and money power used by the ruling parties.”
