In the monsoon session of the Delhi Assembly on Thursday (August 7), Chief Minister Rekha Gupta launched a scathing attack on the Aam Aadmi Party on the CAG report presented on Delhi’s revenue in 2023-24 during the Aam Aadmi Party’s rule.
On the pretext of the report, the Chief Minister made serious allegations of corruption, financial mismanagement and neglect of public interest against the former Delhi government and said, “I already knew that as soon as the CAG report is presented in the House, the opposition will either run away from the House or accuse the central government of not giving money.”
CM Rekha Gupta took a dig at the Aam Aadmi Party’s model of free schemes and said, “Someone had said, spread your legs as much as the sheet is, but the Aam Aadmi Party government looked as if they were giving money from their own pockets.” ‘Funds spent in the wrong direction’
He also said, “AAP did not tell the public that the free services that were being talked about were being provided from their own money and because of this neither new schools nor new hospitals were built. Also, sewer lines and water supply also remained incomplete in the AAP government, because the funds were being used in the wrong direction.”
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said in the Assembly, “In 2023-24, the deficit of the Delhi government had reached 8 thousand 600 crores. Along with this, revenue decreased, expenditure increased, development work remained stalled and the entire focus was only on advertising and everything is recorded in the CAG report.”
’80 crores spent on Sheesh Mahal’
CM Rekha Gupta said in the House, “The Aam Aadmi Party government spent Rs 150 crore in the name of ‘Jai Bhim Yojana’, for which there is no clear account. Also, Rs 80 crore was spent on ‘Sheesh Mahal’.”
Rekha Gupta also alleged that schemes like Ayushman Bharat were not allowed to be implemented in Delhi, PM Shri schools were not allowed to open and the central government gave money under Amrit Yojana for cleaning Yamuna, but neither cleaning was done nor any concrete work was done, on the contrary, the Delhi government had to give Rs 52 crore to the Center, which the AAP government did not give.
‘People of Delhi ruined’
Accusing the Aam Aadmi Party, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said in the House, “These people have ruined Delhi, have indulged in luxuries with the public’s money and when their misdeeds come to light, these people try to run away from the truth by making noise.”
‘Reality exposed in CAG report’
At the end of her speech, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta demanded that the CAG report be sent to the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of the Delhi Assembly for investigation and necessary action be taken. Also, Aam Aadmi Party created a ruckus in the House during the discussion on the CAG report.
On this, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said, “Their promises have already been proven to be counterfeit in the market and now when their reality has been exposed in the report, they are creating a ruckus in the House out of frustration. The report of their corruption should be sent to the PAC.”
What did AAP say?
On the CAG report presented in the House, Aam Aadmi Party MLA Sanjeev Jha said, “Ever since the BJP government has come to power in Delhi, it has been continuously blaming the Aam Aadmi Party. Aam Aadmi Party is continuously demanding in the House that the issue of waterlogging should be discussed but for the last 4 days, the BJP government is targeting the Aam Aadmi Party, sometimes with the help of CAG and sometimes on other issues and the BJP does not want to talk on any issue of public interest.”
The government is only doing politics
AAP MLA Sanjeev Jha also said that the fee control bill was on the agenda for all four days but it was discussed only on one day, on the remaining days the government moved on to other topics, in such a situation the government is only doing politics.
