Team India has been announced for the T20 series to be held after the Test series against Bangladesh. The BCCI announced the 15-member squad under the captaincy of Suryakumar Yadav on Saturday. In this squad, 2 new players have got a place in Team India for the first time, while a bowler has returned to Team India after 3 years. However, despite all the speculations and expectations, star wicketkeeper Ishan Kishan has not been selected and he will have to wait a little longer to return to Team India. At the same time, fast bowler Mayank Yadav, who created a stir with his stormy balls in the IPL, has been selected for the first time, while young all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy has also been called up to Team India for the first time.
The 3-match T20 series between India and Bangladesh will start from October 6. With this series, the T20 team will return to the field after more than two months. Earlier, Team India played a T20 series on the Sri Lanka tour in late July, from where Gautam Gambhir’s tenure as coach and Suryakumar Yadav’s tenure as full-time captain started. Many players of that series have also been retained in this squad, while key players like Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rishabh Pant, Axar Patel and Mohammad Siraj have not got a place as they are currently part of the Test series and they will be given a break for some time after that.
Mayank Yadav gets a chance after he becomes fit
Lucknow Super Giants fast bowler Mayank Yadav, who suddenly came into IPL 2024 and shook the whole world with his fast pace, has got a chance in Team India for the first time. This 22-year-old young fast bowler from Delhi had stunned big batsmen with balls of more than 150 kmph in IPL 2024. During this, he first bowled the fastest ball of that season of 155.8 kmph and then broke that record with 156.7 kmph in the very next match.
However, Mayank was able to play only 4 matches, in which he took 7 wickets. During one match, he was out of the entire season due to a hamstring injury. Since then, he was working on his fitness under the supervision of BCCI and now he has got a call from Team India for the first time. Apart from him, Nitish Kumar Reddy, who plays for Sunrisers Hyderabad, has also been selected in the team for the first time. Medium pacer all-rounder Nitish impressed a lot while making his debut in IPL 2024 and was selected as the Emerging Player of the Season.
Ishan will have to wait, this star returned after 3 years
However, Ishan Kishan, who has been out of Team India for the last one year, will have to wait for his comeback. The BCCI selection committee recently gave Ishan a chance to return by selecting him in the Duleep Trophy. After this, he has also been selected for the Irani Cup, which will start from October 1. Probably for this reason Ishan has not been selected for this T20 series.
Ishan did not return but after a long wait of about 3 years, mystery spinner Varun Chakraborty has returned to Team India. Varun, who played an important role in making Kolkata Knight Riders the IPL champion, was selected in the team for the first time in the T20 World Cup 2021, but his performance there was poor and he was also not impressing in terms of fitness. In such a situation, he was dropped from the team. Coincidentally, Varun has returned with Gautam Gambhir, who was the mentor of KKR last season, becoming the Indian coach.
